The soundtrack to "Crazy Heart" is excellent! January 24, 2010 Kris King (Malone, NY USA) 75 out of 76 found this review helpful
The soundtrack to "Crazy Heart" is excellent! This is one of the best soundtracks of last year. All of the tracks on here are excellent! Note: There are 2 different editions to this soundtrack, this review is on the deluxe edition, which has 6 or 7 more tracks than the regular edition and it is packaged in a digipak case. I personally think that is the deluxe edition is the better version of the soundtrack.

Good Music January 20, 2010 sandra b (BC, Canada) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
This is a great album. It has a mix of classics and new. I love Fallin' & Flyin' and The Weary Kind. Hard to say which I like better.
I've loved Stephen Bruton's music for a long time and can feel his influence on this album... good music along with great lyrics.
My only wish: Although I know this is a movie soundtrack and I'm sure that's why the voices of the new songs sound like they're recorded in a live venue instead of a studio... kind of that hollow sound... not as clear as they might have been. I'd have liked if they had tuned the guitars back a bit and let the voices shine a bit more. This is no reflection on any of the voices. It's a small thing and I absolutely love the album!
Been waiting for it and I'm not disappointed.
This soundtrack has good country music January 19, 2010 Robert G Yokoyama (Mililani, Hawaii) 46 out of 49 found this review helpful
The Crazy Heart soundtrack features great country music. I love the theme song "Weary Heart" by Ryan Bingham. His guitar playing and vocals are beautiful and soothing. I didn't know that Jeff Bridges could sing country. There is no real country singer named Bad Blake, but I can believe that Jeff Bridges is a country singing star after listening to this song. This is a fun song. Another big shock is Colin Farrell. He sings the song "Gone Gone Gone" in his role as Tommy Sweet. This is an upbeat song that knocks my socks off. Jeff and Colin duet on the song "Fallin and Flyin". This is one of the highlights on the song. Lucinda Williams lends her talents with her song "Joy". She can play the guitar like few people can. There are two versions of the track "Somebody Else". I like the instrumental guitar playing by Stephen Bruton, and I love the version with vocals by Jeff Bridges. "I Let The Freight Train Carry Me On" is a light happy tune that puts me in a good mood. The Kitty Wells song "Searching For Someone Like You" is a very pretty song. I love the music and the movie Crazy Heart very much.
Classic Music, Old and New January 25, 2010 Old T.B. (Cheyenne, Wy USA) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
T Bone Burnett, the late Stephen Bruton, and company have assembled a top notch soundtrack. Most of the songs are in the country vein, but there are ventures into blues and folk, as well. I really enjoy how the new music fits in with the classic tunes selected. There is not a weak track on here.
Of the new tracks, I agree with the other reviewers that "The Weary Kind" is a great song, but I believe my favorite is "Fallin' & Flyin'." It is simply a great, rough-hewn, voice-of-experience number.
As for the older songs, we get classic Buck Owens, Kitty Wells, Townes Van Zandt, Waylon Jennings, and the brothers Louvin and Delmore, as well as a mighty fine pick by Lightnin' Hopkins. Incredible.
I find it safe to say that Crazy Heart will stand out as one of the best releases of 2010. It's hard to beat.
stands on its own merit January 27, 2010 eddie knuckles (Central MA, USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
If you are a fan of Americana, Country/Blues, whatever you want to call it - The Deluxe Edition is a must-have. I usually dislike soundtrack albums, but if this were released without being attachment to its movie (which is fantastic as well BTW), I would be perfectly pleased with this purchase. Standouts include "Somebody Else" including its preceding instrumental - great Texas Blues Guitar work, and Lucinda Williams on "Joy" is a knock-down drag out Saloon Encore Anthem. Everyone else here says it well - get this, and see this movie!!!
